In the R&D and production work of the optical module/optical device related industry, friends often encounter the following problems, such as:

The optical module with tail fiber has no light or cannot sense light on either the transmitting or receiving end!

The PD detector with tail fiber is not responding

PIC internal optical path is blocked

The two ends of the jumper are not connected

Usually, through some investigation, it can be inferred that there are cracks or fractures inside the optical path causing excessive optical loss and a blocked link. But how to prove and where the breakpoint is can only be determined with the assistance of instruments. However, the resolution of typical OTDRs is at the decimeter level, making it impossible to accurately locate the specific breakpoint position inside the device. The launch of OCDR-1000 is aimed at solving this problem.

In the early stages, some partners may have used the Agilent 8504B shown below for these diagnostics. Although it is classic, unfortunately, it has long been discontinued.a
